Fall is here, and now is the perfect time to get your water well inspected before winter arrives. King Water Wells would be happy to service your water well to make sure you can rely on it all winter long no matter how hard Old Man Winter hits us this year. It is especially important to have your well inspected if you haven’t done so in more than a year. We should also test your water to make sure that the contaminant levels are not too high. Here’s what’s included in a fall water well inspection.
Visually Inspecting the Well
We will take the time to visually inspect your water well to make sure that it is intact, there are no cracks or other damage, and that it is strong enough to stand up to the ground contraction in the winter. The inspection includes the well itself, as well as visually inspecting all of the components. We want to make sure your water well is completely intact so you can count on fresh water when you need it.
Testing the Water Flow
Another thing we will do is test your water flow. Water flow is gauged by how many gallons-per-minute or GPM flow through your faucets. We will make sure that the correct GPM is flowing through all of your household faucets and, if not, we will find out why and repair the problem. We can also save you water by installing a water flow regulator if the GPM is too high.
Testing the Water Quality
As we said above, testing the quality of your water is crucial. You should have your water quality tested once a year at a maximum. We will test the water to make sure it is free of harmful bacteria and metals. Well water can easily become contaminated from water runoff from other sources as well as untreated water in the well. We will test for everything including E. coli danger.
Checking the Submersible Pump
The water from the well is pumped into your household via a submersible pump. There is a valve called the check valve that is part of the submersible pump that prevents the water from flowing back into the well. We will not only visually inspect your submersible pump and test it, but we will also check the check valve to make sure it isn’t leaking or failing.
Testing the Electrical System
Finally, your water will system is electrical and we will inspect and test the system thoroughly. We want to make sure that there aren’t any shorts or other issues, such as exposed wires, that cannot only create problems with your water well but also create a fire hazard.
